Penal police went to the home of a Siparia man yesterday, after video footage showed he was the last person seen with 26-year-old Nadia Simms, who has been missing since Saturday.

Relatives said Simms left home on Saturday morning to meet the man, who promised to help her get a job at the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) facility in Santa Flora. However, Simms’ aunt, Jenifer Hamid, said yesterday that WASA only has a tank in that area.

Speaking to the T&T Guardian yesterday, she said Simms, of Rochard Road, Penal, worked as a waitress at the Giant Panda Restaurant and Bar along the Penal Rock Road, Penal, until two weeks ago, when she was laid off because the owners had brought in workers from China.

It was there she met the man, who staff said was a regular customer. Sometime last week, he contacted Simms and offered her a job.

“Yesterday morning she was busy organising herself and left home without eating breakfast.

She told her mother that she was going to meet Kenny.

Maybe it was to confirm the work and sign forms. She called her mom around 10.17 am but her mom missed the call because she was in the back,” Hamid said.

“Her mom did not realise that there was a missed call until after 2 o’clock.

She called her back but Nadia was not answering the phone. Police got footage from the restaurant which showed that they were there up until 1 pm and left together so they (police) were going to the boy’s house.”

She added, “The people at the restaurant confirmed that Nadia and Kenny were there together.

Another guy who works nearby said he saw them leave together and they were on foot.

“It is not like Nadia to go anywhere and not come home. She has never done anything like that.

She rarely goes out and she has a few friends.”

Hamid said Simms’ mother was skeptical about the job offer, telling her that the proper procedure would have been needed to gain employment at WASA. She said Simms was warned not to get into a car if the man had any.

Anyone with information can contact Penal police at 647-8888 or the Anti Kidnapping Squad at 679-3165.
