Rojina, officially rated 60, is selected for an extremely moderate seven-runner Maiden Stakes over six furlongs of Kempton polytrack tonight, by process of elimination!
Often we’ve mentioned that best results come from the worst races, hopefully this will prove a classic example and Rojina is able to make it fourth time lucky under John Egan, drawn one.
Veteran Irish jockey Egan was aboard when Rojina finished fourth to Khameela, beaten only four lengths, at Lingfield where this Intense Focus filly made the running, only to fade in the last 300 yards; next time out was a major disappointment for trainer Joseph Tuite, only nine days later.
‘Crack’ apprentice Josephine Gordon was booked for a maiden over five furlongs of Southwell fibresand but Rojina was never ‘at the races’ and finished last, beaten eleven lengths! Presumably the ‘deep stuff’ didn’t suit Rojina; if there was a another reason I’m wasting my time and so is Arab owner Abdullateef Al Zeer!
Both once-raced rivals Cultured Knight and Summer Music (drawn widest!) could improve sufficiently and any one of three newcomers wouldn’t need to be any ‘great shakes’ to figure but on the time-handicap, for what it is worth, Rojina is clear ‘best-in’ on form!
Fever Few is ‘a winner witing to happen’ off her present mark and it will therefore be no surprise if Chris Wall’s charge causes one in the ‘age’ handicap over seven furlongs; so-called ‘dangers’ are drawn too high, with no exceptions.
Providing Martin Harley hits the gate and travels in a handy, prominent, position this really should be just a question of course and distance winner, Fever Few, running up to anything like her best; good time of year for fillies’ and mares, have you been noticing?
